Aoife O'Donovan, vocals, guitar and piano
Ben MacDonald, vocals, guitar and drums
Marc Riordan, drums, piano and vocals

Acclaimed vocalist Aoife O'Donovan has been turning heads all through the music scene for the past 6 years. Called "Americana's newest darling" by USA today, Aoife is a founding member of newgrass sensations "Crooked Still," with whom she tours the world for most of the year. She is also a member of the folk-noir trio, "Sometymes Why." 2007 has seen Aoife on stages from the Shetland Islands to Yosemite National Park, with stops across Europe, Canada, and the USA in between. Though just beginning to play shows featuring her own material, her quirky original songs have garnered praise worldwide. Originally from Newton, Massachusetts, Aoife continues to make her home in the musical hotbed of Boston.

"Daydreams in the Age of Delightenment" by Ryan V. Brennan
Opening Saturday, Nov. 8 from 7-11pm
Show runs from Nov. 8-14, 2008

In Ryan’s first Solo Show in Chicago titled “Daydreams in The Age of Delightenment” he expands upon his earlier work of intricate three dimensional collages that combined found objects, cut paper, wood work, and drawings which strung together poetic riddles blurring notions of childhood and adolescent innocence. For Heaven Gallery he has brought his new wall relief collages to life by turning them into wondrous miniature environments which stop animation movies are filmed. The new work is described as Cinemallage: Works that are simultaneously the set and viewing platform for stop animation movies.

Housed within each collage is a video player displaying chapters of an imaginative tale of a young mans journey through a land of make believe where he learns of the power of imagination to make a change in the world around him. This story cleverly utilizes the naïve language of fairytale as a vehicle to engage real issues of modern society evoking hope and community in a trying time of uncertain future.

*Also on view, a screening at 8:00 of the stop animation as well as other films, drawings, collages, and a life size video installation.

Ryan V. Brennan (b. Cincinnati, Ohio 1982) has exhibited internationally (France, and Prague) and nationally (Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, Richmond). He has shown in LA Art Fair 08, Scope Miami Fair 07, and Scope Hamptons Fair 07, and will be on exhibit in the LA Art Fair 09 and has a two person show June 09 at Rare Gallery in Chelsea. Ryan received a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center in 06 and has been featured in a variety of publications. W/ Performances by Grant Hart (Husker Du) and Anni Rossi (4AD)

Heaven Gallery is pleased to present the inaugural exhibition of Daily Life Sucks, photographic works by Yony Leyser that document squat, punk, queer, transgender, anarchist and outsider cultures in central Europe and central USA.

The show is a celebration of outsiders. Over the past several years Leyser has photographed Ida, a utopian vegan transgender commune in Tennessee; Christiana, an anarchist village formed in 1969 in Copenhagen, Denmark; and Kopi, Europe’s largest squat; with plenty of protests and naked bike rides in between.

The show documents people and places under the radar, and beneath the mainstream and media consciousness. It’s about people who are not afraid to break away from of safe normative “lifestyles”.

Grant Hart, drummer of legendary punk band, Husker Du, will be coming out of the woodwork to debut a music set at Heaven Gallery on Friday. He will play songs from his forthcoming solo album to be released on Constellation Records. Chicago Vocalist/Violist Anni Rossi (4AD records) will also be performing.

Yony Leyser attended the California Institute for the Arts and the New School in New York. His visual art and films have been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, London, and Chicago.
