NOAH LYON & RAPHAEL LYON in THE LYON FAMILY CIRCUS

Inspired by great works of art like Todd Browning’s “Freaks”, John Waters’ “Cavalcade of Perversion”, the brotherly love of punk rock workaholics the Ramones, and the collective sound mastery of the Wu-Tang Clan family; notorious east coast ringmasters Noah & Raphael Lyon said “Gooba-gabba, gooba-gabba, hey ho, let’s go, Chicago!”.

His composition “Variations on the Fibonacci Sequence” was commissioned by the Greenwall Foundation and world premiered at the 2007 Festival of New Trumpet. Forbes has also written music for the new music/rock ensemble Normal Love. He has appeared at numerous festivals including High Zero and The Wire’s Adventures in Modern Music. His work incorporates many genres including drum n’ bass, jazz, contemporary classical, noise, and hip-hop.

DANIEL LEVIN has performed and/or recorded with Billy Bang, Borah Bergman, Tim Berne, Anthony Braxton, Rob Brown, Joe Morris, William Parker, and others. He as appeared as a sideman on Clean Feed records, EMANEM, Not Two, and Rogue Art, and as a leader, on Riti Records and HatHut.

"Levin has a sound that ranges from subtle and understated to aggressive; with admirable technique as a performer and a compositional concept that blends structure with freewheeling exploration, he deserves to have his name added to the short list of cellists who are making a mark in improvisational music."

Never Enough Hope: Small Group Improvisations

After two consecutive shows at AV-aerie (Friday and Saturday night Feb. 29th and March 1st), Toby Summerfield's Never Enough Hope will break down into small groups and perform ad hoc improvisations at Heaven Gallery!

Never Enough Hope is a very large ensemble put together every so often by Toby Summerfield. The first never enough hope performances were in 2005, at Open End and at The hungry brain. The piece, also titled "never enough hope" is their debut recording. Their hope is to be able to perform more regularly than every two years. The inspiration and motiviation behind this band is to celebrate the friendship and community particular to musicians and music lovers. It is the sound of a bunch of friends singing together, happy to be around each other, doing what they love.

Featuring Dina Maccabee, Sara Jo Zaharako, Amy Cimini, Kevin Davis, Eric Perney, Jaimie Branch, Brian Lipson, Aram Shelton, Dave Rempis, Keefe Jackson, Tim Haldeman, Dan Bennett, Colin Stetson, Tim Brown, Dan Sylvester, Nathaniel Braddock, Josh Tillinghast, Marc Riordan, Frank Rosaly, Tim Strand, Toby Summerfield.
